Jerseys galore for Cervélo Bigla
Like last year, Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio won the final stage and overall of Giro della Toscana on Sunday.
The Cervélo Bigla Pro Cycling Team swept the podium in the opening prologue, with Lisa Klein navigating the 2.2km course in 2:52, followed by Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig and Moolman-Pasio. The latter did one better the next day, finishing second on Stage 2 and moving into the same position in the GC.
The improvement continued on the final stage, which Moolman-Pasio won by attacking relentlessly on her Cervélo R5. “We’re very happy, this is perfect preparation before the world champs,” she said. “We learned a lot of lessons during this tour. It’s always great to win in Italy. I love racing here, it’s a beautiful country, and the racing is always hard here because of the terrain.”
By finishing just behind Moolman-Pasio, Uttrup Ludwig clinched the UCI Women’s World Tour youth classification, which she has led since finishing in the top 10 in the Strade Bianche. “It really means a lot to win because we were competing against some talented young riders,” she said. “The team is a base for young talented riders and we want to attract more young riders. We want to showcase how young riders are developed here, so the jersey is a perfect advert for that.”
